Engagement and leadership programs designed to reduce barriers that may prevent employees from pursuing further educational goals.

The TCU Master Leaders program is a highly-selective, 11-month (July—June) leadership development intensive that engages faculty and staff from all positions, roles and corners of TCU. It brings together a network of individuals committed to enriching TCU’s workplace culture by developing skills necessary for effective and impactful supervisory or managerial level positions.

Faculty and staff employed no less than .75FTE at TCU or .50FTE at the TCU Burnett School of Medicine for at least one year at the time of application are eligible to apply for this program.

In spring 2019, TCU launched the Professional Leadership Rotation, a program designed to provide current TCU employees an opportunity to become a professional intern in a partnering office on campus to meet the need in higher education for professionals that have a wide variety of skills and experiences.

Participants in this program engage in 3-5 hours of work per week in a different functional area, monthly professional development with a small cohort, and an opportunity to gain a wide variety of skills and experiences across the higher education spectrum. 

An average of 10-12 departments serve as internship offices annually, with 12-15 TCU employees participating as professional interns.

  • GED Preperation (General Education Diploma) (English/Español)
  • Employee Tutoring for ESL/GED

Fort Worth Area offered initiatives designed to eliminate barriers that may prevent residents from pursuing further educational goals include:

This course is for non-Spanish speakers and serves as a continuation for Level 1 completers or those with some formal Spanish, building basic to early-intermediate skills for engaging with native Spanish speakers in workplace contexts. Emphasis is on oral communication and job-specific vocabulary, supported by frequent written and spoken practice to develop practical strategies for daily interactions. Pre- and post-tests identify existing strengths and measure progress.

 

Sessions offered multiple times throughout the calendar and academic year to enhance and strengthen overall workplace engagement and culture. Sessions offered vary depending on campus interests, feedback collected through the annual TCU@Work survey and skills needed to enhance teams, individuals and the TCU workplace.

Responsible for Inclusion and Sustaining Excellence (R.I.S.E.) is a seven-month program open to TCU faculty and staff committed to inclusive excellence.

The TCU R.I.S.E. Certificate Program is a collaborative initiative between TCU Human Resources and the Center for Connection Culture focused on fostering leadership, personal growth, and organizational impact. The program prepares participants to become agents of social change and cultural transformation—leaders who can navigate complex social dynamics with purpose, collaboration, and integrity.

R.I.S.E. empowers individuals to: 

  1. Develop self-awareness and cultural competence through guided reflection and assessment
  2. Strengthen their capacity to lead with empathy, clarity, and resilience in complex and evolving environments
  3. Practice strategies for fostering collaboration, trust, and belonging across diverse teams and communities
  4. Transform insight into meaningful action that supports a culturally competent and resilient campus

This program is designed for those ready to lead with authencity, embrace connection, and help shape a culturally competent and resilient campus.
