Yohna Chambers-Hastings has received honorary life membership in the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). Honorary life membership is granted to a small number of CUPA-HR leaders who have demonstrated a lifetime commitment to the higher education human resources profession and long-term leadership in the association.
Chambers-Hastings, a long-time member of CUPA-HR, has held many leadership positions within the association, including president of the Virginia Chapter; chair, treasurer and at-large member of the Southern Region board of directors; and Southern Region representative on the CUPA-HR Board of Directors. She was also a long-time member of the Public Policy Committee in addition to serving as a member of the Awards Committee. Chambers-Hastings received the CUPA-HR Distinguished Service Award in 2024.
“Few individuals have demonstrated the sustained commitment, transformational leadership and unwavering dedication to the profession of higher education human resources that Yohna has exhibited throughout her distinguished career,” shared Jeffrey Cargile, director of human resources for the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at TCU, in his nomination letter for Chambers-Hastings. “Having known Yohna professionally and personally for more than 30 years, I can state without hesitation that she is among the most accomplished, respected and influential higher education HR leaders I have encountered.”
Chambers-Hastings will retire from Texas Christian University in September following a distinguished career in higher ed HR.
