Tuition Assistance

It is the policy of Texas Christian University (TCU) to offer tuition assistance to eligible current faculty/staff members, their spouses or domestic partners, and dependent children who are seeking a degree.

To be eligible, current employees must work at least .75 FTE.

  • Employees who work at least .75 FTE are eligible for tuition assistance after completion of six months of employment.

  • Graduate and/or undergraduate assistance is available for employees: No limit on number of degrees.

  • Employees will receive an annual graduate tax exemption of $5,250.

  • Employees may audit one class free per semester.

  • Employees are eligible to receive tuition assistance for a maximum of six semester hours per regular semester and six semester hours for any combination of summer terms.

  • Employees can take a maximum of one course during normal working hours if approved by the appropriate dean or unit head. Work time lost to attend class must be made up during the same week.

  • To apply for tuition assistance:
    • Log on to my.tcu.edu
    • Click Employee Center icon
    • Under the Benefits section, click on the Employee Tuition Assistance link

NOTE: TCU staff will receive tuition benefit commensurate to the regular tuition benefit rate when they elect to participate in the EMBA or CRNA premium tuition programs

  • Spouses are eligible after the employee has completed one year of employment for a 50% waiver of tuition and 100% waiver of tuition after three years of employment. 

  • Either graduate or undergraduate assistance is available for employee’s spouse: Covers one degree only.

  • Graduate tuition tax begins at dollar one.

  • To apply for tuition assistance:

  • Dependent children are eligible after the benefits-eligible employee has completed one year of employment for a 50% waiver of tuition and 100% waiver of tuition after three years of employment. 

  • Undergraduate assistance is available for dependent children through the semester in which the child turns 24. Covers one degree only.

  • The Tuition Exchange (TE) program is available for dependent children through the semester in which the child turns 24. For more information including program guidelines, click here Tuition Exchange Program Guidelines.
  • Dependent children who do not meet TCU admissions requirements may receive reimbursement of full community college tuition when attending Tarrant County College or a community college in a county adjacent to Tarrant County.
