This year, the TCU Faculty Senate has named Blackshear the 2026 recipient of the Beto Cruz Award, honoring a non-exempt facilities employee whose service to the university goes beyond the everyday. For Blackshear -- an equipment operator on the greenhouse crew who will mark 45 years at TCU this November -- the recognition lands in a career that has, quite literally, helped shape what the campus looks like.

TCU is advancing a more intentional and connected approach to employee appreciation and recognition.

TCU continues to strengthen its staff performance management approach with a clear focus on consistency, engagement, and meaningful feedback. Recent cycles have shown strong participation across campus, with notable increases in self-evaluations and continued commitment from both employees and managers.

To better serve TCU employees and provide more consistent, timely assistance, the Benefits Office is implementing dedicated daily walk-in service hours.
