TCU Police

The TCU Police Department (TCUPD) is committed to providing a safe learning, living and working environment for students, employees and visitors to the campus through the mutual respect and shared resosibility of community policing. Our police officers are commissioned by authority of the state of Texas and TCU's Board of Trustees, to provide police service to property owned or controlled by the university. TCUPD are in service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the dispatcher can be contacted at 817-257-7777. The office is located at 3025 Lubbock Ave.

The TCUPD posts a Daily Crime Log and produces an Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report, both of which are found on the TCUPD website. These reports are also available at the TCUPD.

All firearms and dangerous weapons are prohibited on campus. TCU has complied with the statutory requirements of Section 411.2031 of the Texas Government Code. The TCU Board of Trustees voted to prohibit license holders from carrying concealed handguns on any campus grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by TCU is being conducted, and in any passenger transportation vehicle owned or leased by TCU.

The only excepetions are students and employees may bring unloaded firearms, other weapons, and ammunition directly to the TCUPD to be checked in and stored in a locked gun vault. Texas law also permits a person to store a concealed firearm in a locked, privately owned or leased motor vehicle parked, on a campus street or driveway, or in a TCU parking lot/parking garage (Policy: HR 2.060 - Weapons and Firearms).

Report an Emergency

For immediate emergency assistance dial 7777 or 817-257- 7777.

TCU Police (817-257-7777) versus the 911-Operator: The TCU Police department should be contacted first, 817-257-7777, or ext. 7777 for any type of emergency that occurs on campus. The size and number of buildings on campus makes it very difficult for the local first responders to come to the property location; therefore, calling TCU Police is the best method of notification. TCU Police can meet and guide the emergency responders to your location. If you decide to dial 911, be prepared to give the dispatcher the address of the building you are in. Additionally, they may ask for the name of the building, floor and room number. Be patient and calm as the dispatcher asks you the needed questions concerning the emergency.

Frogshield
